“Really I came to the Brits to stalk Adele,” she said. “It wasn’t about the Brits, it wasn’t about the performance, it was really just to see Adele again. I saw her at the Grammys – I love her.”

The 24-year-old Bajan singer also spoke of the rivalry between herself and music’s biggest female artists – Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Adele and Katy Perry.

“It’ll always be a competition,” she told Jonathan Ross on his Saturday night television show. “That’s why women are becoming so dominant in music right now. We’re very competitive beings and we cannot stand to see another woman do better than us. That bothers us a lot. As much as men have egos, our egos are even bigger – we’re just better at hiding them.”
